Gifts Of Gratitude

These people from the village of Manjakatompo presented us with a gift basket full of sweet potatoes as we were about to leave. Susan liked the way the purple clad man matched the sweet potatoes, so he was invited to stand next to the gift bearer.
As we sat resting in the shade in the village of Ambohitrazo, the villagers went out and caught these "gifts" for us. We felt obligated to graciously accept their offering.

What are we going to do with these things? These poor people could use them much more than us, but we did not want to offend them by refusing their offering. Thankfully, our guide and friend Gaby lives in the country and was glad to have them.

Susan and Bob, you know what to do with your live animal gifts! Remember when you shot and killed the wild turkey that roamed the neighborhood? You ate it! No, really, those are great pictures and those people seem so thoughtful!

I love catching up with your blog now and then. Looks like you're doing a great work there. And you do it with such joy -- isn't it great to serve a mission. We wish ALL senior couples could know what a joy it is!! They'd be lined up at their Bishop's office, huh?
We love you guys and enjoy your adventures. Take care!

And we thought that Bart was responsible for the demise of the wild turkey! Marilyn
