Upon stopping at a picnic area inside Kruger Park, I was able to capture on digital film this mysterious animal trying to enter our van.
Our travel companions for this expedition were Elder and Sister Garrett and Elder and Sister Uzelac.
This large pride of Lions was discovered only a few yards from the back-country road we were traveling on. It was a very unexpected and exciting sight as the lions are usually very hard to see in the daytime due to their nocturnal habits. We believe there was at least seven fairly large animals in the group. Awesome!!
The Cape Buffalo looks very peaceful here, but that can change in a flash. They are one of the Big 5 of Africa which means they are one of the five most dangerous animals in Africa.
The Saddle-billed Stork is one of the more exotic looking of the large birds seen in the parks. Check out that exotic looking bill.
Not often are we able to see the Hippo out of the water during the day. They are nocturnal feeders and usually spend their days in the water to protect themselves from the rays of the sun.
